Hello Dear Reader,

my name is Shauna and I welcome you to this very first Creating a Butterfly (CaB) entry!

This is me:
Find my art on Tumblr

I’m a 22 year old girl (woman sounds too grown up) from Ireland and currently living with my French boyfriend in Austria. (Yes, you may laugh)

Although I am enrolled at my local university, my priorities are not necessarily English and American studies. I love drawing, knowing things and learning. It might not come as a surprise that most books I read, are about personal development and improvement. I guess I am on a journey that I can share with many of you out there; trying to be a more loving, caring and content person.

I love finding out if  and how things work.. Because I read so many books and blogs about improvement, I like testing what I read about, and sharing what I have learnt with others.

To quote my mother, I like “creating an environment of success” for those around me. I want people to achieve their goals and be happy. Seeing people realize their true potential and finding their passion, is the reason I cry watching movies like Step Up or Beatrix Potter.

Yet, when I look for answers or reviews on the internet, many things feel airbrushed: Too easy. Not truthful. Not authentic. I don't feel supported by real people, but alienated by those who have become too perfect.

I want CaB to fill that gap and be real, authentic and honest. It's not about being finished, or actually being the butterfly. It's about being the caterpillar. Fattening ourselves up and doing the occasional skin-strip while we grow.

Until I am joined by all your opnions, experiences and perspectives, CaB will be about me and what I am currently working on. Hopefully, CaB will quickly develop into what I have envisioned for it:  A community of people who support and root for each other. A place of inspiration without judgment; where we can be the caterpillar with good intentions, but where perfection is not expected.

I feel excited thinking of what we can achieve together!

Please be patient with me, as I try to lay the foundation for this blog, and learn what it means to be a  responsible blogger.

I am looking forward to sharing with and learning from you!

Love,
Shauna
